We wish to thank those who served with distinguished for the past almost 22 years in 202,  as our previous board members and officers. In addition, we thank Denise Liebel, our past board president; and former chairwoman Melanie DiLeo. At the Annual Business/Board Meeting of the board of directors, On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, the following officers were dominated and voted, unanimously. The other key positions which are critical to the overall success of this regional not-for-profit energy assistance, public education and advocacy charity is: St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson is our official volunteer resource hotline host. Our interim executive director is Gentry W. Trotter;  administrators are Tim Gorline and Linda Brison. 100% of public donations are used strictly for servicing the needs of those who qualify for utility assistance.

 

Since the not-for-profit organization is solely volunteer based, it is essential that the group maintains a resource of individuals who have small, to medium, to large associations and affiliations. Heat-Up St. Louis and Cool Down St. Louis are open to nominations for membership. Anyone who believes that a potential board candidate can bring financial, fundraising, marketing, public relations, or volunteer resources may nominate that person by sending an official letter of request to Robert Wm. Fulstone, nominating chairperson, c/o Heat-Up St. Louis, Inc., Suite 4038, 1520 Market Street, St. Louis, MO 63103, or submit it to our e-mail address at [email protected].

 

Heat-Up St. Louis and Cool Down St. Louis welcome people to volunteer at many of our public or private fundraisers. To serve with board members on some of our standing and special committees, or to volunteer, write us at [email protected] or fax us at 314-241-1860, c/o Ben Turec, board president.

 

The board of directors attempt to meet three times a year, including an annual meeting, scheduled in June of each year. The annual meeting is for the sole purpose of conducting business relating to any financial, marketing, and fundraising issues, mid-year. In absence of the board, the executive committee meets routinely to deal with business affairs of the organization. The organization’s business and its meetings are conducted in the framework of Roberts Rules of Order. In absence of the board of director, the organization’s day-to-day operation is run by the president of the board of directors, often in consultation with the executive committee.

 

The president also chairs the annual and board meetings, and executive board meetings, except for ad-hoc and board-established committees. The official spokespersons are the chair, vice-chair(s), president and vice president and other officers. No officer or board member is allowed to receive compensation or be reimbursed for expenses incurred by executive order. Those expenses are to be considered administrative costs, so that every penny (100%) donated goes to help needy families in about 40 counties in Missouri and Illinois, and the City of St. Louis, where members are responsible for volunteering time and efforts throughout the calendar year, and board members must make an annual donation of their choice. Thank you for helping to Heat-Up St. Louis in the winter months, and Cool Down St. Louis in the summer months.

The all-volunteer board of directors of Heat-Up St. Louis and Cool Down St. Louis is quite diverse. The board originally began with a handful of community volunteers from the civic, business, and religious sectors. It was the intention of the founder, Gentry W. Trotter, former media, public relations and marketing executive to continuously expand the board to reflect the socioeconomic makeup of the entire St. Louis region and to reinforce the volunteer base. Denise Liebel, a St. Charles community leader, is elected board president; Melanie DiLeo, retired senior vice president of community affairs of Citi is chairwoman of the board of directors. Dr. James Knight is noted vascular surgeon is vice chairman. Chairman emeritus Rev. Earl E. Nance, Jr., is also corporate treasurer, the late J. Kim Tucci, president, and co-owner of The Pasta House Co. is chair emeritus. Robert Wm. Fulstone serves as Senior Executive VP and Gena Mayer, vice president at UMB Bank, serves as an Executive VP; Dave Yates P.E., of Brown & Caldwell is Executive Vice President and Becky Domyan, SVP & Market manager of Entercom radio is first Vice President; Margie Price, executive director, St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer is assistant corporate treasurer; Ben Turec, president of Turec Advertising & Marketing is Board President-Elect; Attorney Philip Kirkpatrick is corporate board secretary, who is Regional General Counsel – North America, Rabobank and Attorney Norman Newmark, McCarthy, Leonard & Kaemmerer, General Counsel. 

The general counsel is Attorney Norman S. Newmark. The secretary and associate counsel is Attorney Philip Kirkpatrick of Rabo Bank Inc. Donna Knight,  executive vice president of North County Surgical Center, serves as the assistant secretary. Officers of the diverse board now serve at the pleasure of the full board of directors. Kevin X. McGowan is board president emeritus.
